How Mercari fees stack

Mercari charges a 10% selling fee on the item price, and payment processing of 2.9% + $0.50 is deducted from the seller payout. Shipping is paid by the buyer in most listings, so it usually nets out.

The fixed $0.50 component means low-priced items lose a disproportionate share. A $10 sale costs 10% + 2.9% + $0.50, roughly 18% of the sale.

Mercari's 10% plus processing adds up

At $25 a sale loses roughly $3.70 to fees. A storefront puts that margin back in your pocket and gives you the buyer's email.
